Operations Research in Africa: Promising Developments Edited by the African Federation of Operations Research Societies (AFROS)

During the last years, promising development in the African continent occurred to sustainably prosper people and institutions. African decision makers present an increased awareness about the benefit that operations research provides toward a more powerful decision making. The African Federation of Operations Research Societies (AFROS) aims to promote operations research in Africa and contribute to the development of African countries.
This special issue in Operations Research Forum aims to bring the spotlight on Operations Research (OR) models and techniques that have helped economic developers in Africa to address issues from different fields in business, social sciences, engineering, education, energy, environment, health care, and transportation. Papers included in this special issue will be presented during the 2021 International Conference of the African Federation of Operational Research Societies (AFROS 2021) to be held jointly with the 50th Annual Conference of the Operations Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA) at the North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa. Also, we are willing to extend this call for papers to other than those presented during the conference.

Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • OR models in finance
  • OR models in information technology
  • OR models in logistics
  • OR models in marketing
  • OR models in operations management
  • OR models in space
  • OR models in telecommunication and networking
  • OR models in transportation
  • OR models in business and engineering

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for full paper submission: 15 January 2022
  • Notice of acceptance/rejection: 30 March 2022
  • Revised paper submission: 15 July 2022
  • Final decision: 15 September 2022
  • Expected publication: October 2022
