  • Congratulations! Prof. Sanwen Huang has been elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

On 22nd November, the results of the 2023 Academician co-option of the two academies were announced. The Editor-in-Chief of aBIOTECH, Prof. Sanwen Huang has been elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Professor Sanwen Huang, President of Chinese Academy of Topical Agricultural Sciences, Professor and Director General of Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen, CAAS. He works on the multidisciplinary frontier of genomics, molecular biology, and plant breeding, using potato and vegetables as research subjects. Dr. Sanwen Huang devotes himself to the development of disruptive innovations for agriculture, including genome design of hybrid potato. He has published over 100 papers in journals including Cell, Nature, and Science. He serves as member of Academic Advisory Committee of Cell. He won the National Natural Science Award of China and Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation.

  • Special Issue "Genome Editing and Genotype-independent Transformation Methodologies in Crop Improvement" in 2023"

In this special issue, we plan to publish articles covering the following topics: Timely review(s); Research articles; Brief communications; and Step-by-step protocol(s) for methodology development in genome editing, in either plant or mammalian cells; Genotype-independent transformation of crop species; Exploring the potential mechanisms underlying the differences in transformation.

    Submission deadline: October 1st 2023

    Special Issue Editors:

Holger Puchta, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany

Lanqin Xia, Institute of Crop Science, CAAS, China

Yiping Qi, University of Maryland, USA

    Goetz Hensel, Heinrich-Heine University, Germany

Jian-Feng Li, Sun Yat-Sen University, China

Erwei Zuo, Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen, CAAS, China

  • Special Issue "Plant-Microbe Interactions"

Plant disease outbreaks have greatly reduced crop yields and significantly affect global food security in the recent years. Deep understanding of plant-microbe interactions is critical for developing novel strategies for disease control and reducing crop losses.

Drs. Guo-Liang Wang, Wende Liu and Suomeng Dong are organizing a special issue on Plant-Microbe Interactions for aBIOTECH.

    Submission deadline: November 1, 2023

  • Special Issue "Plant metabolism and synthesis" in 2023

Edited by Xiaoquan Qi, Yi Shang, Yang Zhang and Xiao Yang.

    Submission Deadline: September, 2023

We encourage submission of fundamental discoveries or technological advancement in areas of plant main metabolism, discovering of medicinal plant and natural products, elucidating of metabolism pathways and their biological functions, application of metabolic engineering for synthesis of bioactive natural products, and study on metabolic networks and their functions.

Also, new strategies or technologies, including metabonomics/transcriptome sequencing, integrations of metabolome with genome, transcriptome, proteome and phenome of papers describing are also welcome.

  • Special Issue "Plant genomics and Application" in 2023

Plants are vital to the survival of humans and other animals. The understanding of the genomics mechanism underlying the important agronomic traits and evolutionary phenotypes of plants, contributes to improving agricultural productivity and maintaining the stability of ecological environment.

The rapid development of experimental technologies and bioinformatics in genomics, which has greatly promoted the access of hundreds of high-quality plant genomes and the study of genotype-phenotype associations in plants, is providing unprecedented opportunities for plant genomics research and application, and also the potential to advance the modern breeding.

Prof. Zhonghua Zhang would like to call for research and review articles for an aBIOTECH special issue on “Plant genomics and Application”. Many of the papers in this issue will be invited by issue editor; however, unsolicited papers related to the topic are also welcome.

    Submission Deadline: August, 2023
