The Japanese Economic Review (JER) would love to solicit proposals for a special conference on “Heterogeneity and Macroeconomics.” The conference will be hosted by Meiji University, in Tokyo, Japan, on August 22 (Thursday) and 23 (Friday), 2024. All papers accepted for the conference will be considered for publication in the special conference volume of the JER in April 2025.

We cordially invite the submissions of original research contributions, both theoretical and empirical, encompassing a wide spectrum of topics related to the theme. These topics include, but are not limited to

  • Micro data and macroeconomic analysis
  • Macroeconomic analysis with life cycle
  • Heterogeneity and labor market
  • Heterogeneous-Agent New-Keynesian (HANK) models
  • Macroeconomic and policy implications of household or firm heterogeneity
  • Misallocation of resources and talents
  • Application of heterogeneous-agent analysis to the Japanese and Asian economies

Authors are kindly requested to submit either a detailed abstract of 3-5 pages or a preliminary version of the paper in PDF format via email to jer.heteromacro@gmail.com, using the subject line "Submission to JER Special Issue." Do not submit through the usual online editorial system of the JER. The papers should represent original research not published elsewhere. Since the papers are intended for publication in the JER, authors will not be able to publish or reprint the work elsewhere without the permission of the guest editors. Those who submitted a paper will receive a receipt notice within a week after submission. The submission deadline for proposals is April 5, 2024 (Friday). The guest editors, in collaboration with the JER editorial board, will select the papers. Authors will be notified by May 3, 2024 (Friday) if their paper has been selected.

Following this initial screening process, all selected papers will be presented at the JER special conference scheduled to take place at Meiji University in Tokyo, Japan, on August 22 (Thursday) and 23 (Friday), 2024, after which each paper will go through a streamlined review process. More detailed information regarding the conference will be provided in due course. Please note that JER will cover travel and accommodation expenses for selected presenters.

For any inquiries or further information, please do not hesitate to contact the guest editors via email (jer.heteromacro@gmail.com), using the subject line "JER Special Issue." We are looking forward to your submission.
