The Japanese Economic Review - Call for Papers on "Demographic Change and Wellbeing in Japan and Asian Economies"

Japanese Economic Review (JER) is delighted to announce a special issue dedicated to the Economics of Aging, with a particular emphasis on life satisfaction, psychosocial wellness, mental health, and various measures of overall well-being. We cordially invite the submission of original research contributions encompassing a wide spectrum of topics within the realm of demographic change and well-being. We encourage researchers to utilize one (or more) of microdata sources such as the Japanese Study on Aging and Retirement (JSTAR) as well as various surveys conducted in Japan or other Asian countries. The papers will be considered for publication in a Special Issues of the journal, tentatively schedule for fall 2024.

Authors are kindly requested to submit their full papers in PDF format via email to Professor Yasuyuki Sawada at sawada@e.u-tokyo.ac.jp, using the subject line "Submission to Asia Wellbeing Conference." Do not submit through the online editorial system. If you do not receive a receipt notice within a week after your submission, please send the PDF file again. The submission deadline for manuscripts is December 10, 2023. Following the initial screening process, all selected papers will be presented at the JER conference, titled "Demographic Change and Wellbeing in Japan and Asian Economies," scheduled to take place in Tokyo on February 2 and 3, 2024, after which each paper will go through a review process. More detailed information regarding the conference date and venue will be provided in due course. Please note that JER will cover travel and accommodation expenses for selected presenters.
