Waste Disposal & Sustainable Energy - Call for papers: Treatment of agricultural and industrial wastes for sustainable development

The growing population, consumerism and industrialization have rapidly increased various sources of agricultural and industrial waste generation owing to the increase in human activities. However, these wastes can cause a serious threat to human health and a huge risk to ecological stability via environmental pollution. Effective techniques, processes, and sustainable practices for agricultural and/or industrial waste treatment, are urgently needed. The energy and resource utilization of agricultural and industrial wastes is a highly promising technology, including thermal treatment (e.g., incineration, pyrolysis, gasification), mechanical biological treatment (MBT) (e.g., RDF, SRF, biogas, composting), and other practical methods, in addition to the production of derived beneficial substances. Proper management and treatment contribute to the sustainable development of goals from the perspectives of agricultural and industrial waste management. Therefore, we plan to organize a Special Issue that covers original research, review articles and state-of-the-art of agricultural and industrial waste treatment.

Potential topics may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Waste management
  • Waste construction materials
  • Innovative engineering-based technologies
  • Advanced thermal treatment methods
  • Pollution control
  • Mechanical-Biological-Treatment technology
  • Derived construction materials
  • Greenhouse gas emissions
  • Life-cycle analysis (LCA)
  • Other relevant topics

Papers will be published online upon acceptance, regardless of the special issue publication date. Welcome your contributions!
