During this moment, we can all reflect on the fact that discriminatory behavior still exists towards people of African, Latinx, and Asian descent in many countries. In light of these facts, we have focused this special issue on structural racism and affective science.

As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are very aware that many of our editors and reviewers will have difficulty meeting the timelines that are associated with our peer review process during normal times. We want to be flexible and balance accommodating these difficulties with our responsibility to authors. So please do let us know if you are going to need additional time and, in particularly challenging situations, if you need us to find someone else to step in and handle a particular manuscript. Our automated Editorial Manager system will continue to remind you of the original timelines and we are exploring the possibility of adding the ability to send out an update to authors when we anticipate delays in the review process. With flexibility and open communication we hopefully can find ways to work together to get through these challenging times.
