This journal offers a unique forum for mechanical behaviour of soft materials including but not limited to polymers, elastomers, gels, rubberlike materials, soft biological materials and tissues. The journal aims at uniting considerations of various soft materials, which exhibit similarity in many aspects of their behaviour independently of the specific composition or biological function. The focus of the journal is on mechanics, chemo-mechanics, electro-mechanics, thermo-mechanics, biomechanics, failure and fracture of soft materials. It equally welcomes experiments, theory and computations and bridges the gap between mechanics and engineering applications.
Although soft solids are the main subject of the journal, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish soft solids from viscous liquids (soft matter), which might also be considered for publication in the journal.

As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are very aware that many researchers will have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our peer review process during normal times. Please do let us know if you need additional time. Our systems will continue to remind you of the original timelines but we intend to be highly flexible at this time.
Mechanics of Soft Materials welcomes Special Issues on timely topics related to the field of mechanical behaviour of soft materials.
The objective of Special Issues is to bring together recent and high quality works in a research domain, to promote key advances in specific research areas covered by the journal, and to provide overviews of the state-of-the-art developments.
