Special Issue (2023): Scientific Research in Promoting Sustainable Development

Scientific research is vital in achieving scientific progress in any country. The scientific research paradigm has recently shifted from theoretical insinuations and thirst for knowledge to human capital development to a safe and secure future, thus achieving sustainable development.

The College of Sciences Research Day (COSRED), is being organized by College of Sciences, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) Nigeria during March 2023 with the theme "Scientific Research in Promoting Sustainable Development" which will bring together innovative scientists and academia who will discuss the possibilities of scientific research in promoting sustainable development.

Full papers presented at COSRED 2023 along with the relevant research articles from global scientific community as per the theme of special issue of VEGETOS: An International Journal of Plant Research and Biotechnology (Published by Society for Plant Research and Springer Nature) will be considered for publication after peer review as per manadate of the journalPapers may be submitted online using the links www.springer.com/42535 (this opens in a new tab) or www.vegetosindia.org/submission (this opens in a new tab)  

Special issue tagged Scientific Research in Promoting Sustainable Development will cover the following sub-themes.

Sub-theme 3. Environment and Social Awareness 

Sub-theme 4. Remote sensing for sustainable Agriculture

Dr. Olukemi Adetutu Osukoya

Olukemi Adetutu Osukoya is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Chemical Sciences, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. She holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Biochemistry and has over twelve years of teaching and research experience.  She is a member of many academic bodies, including Organisation of Women in the Developing World (OWSD), Biochemical Society, Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB) and Nigerian Society of Experimental Biology, and serves as a reviewer for some journals. She has chaired a number of academic and research committees in her university. She is the current chair of Protein Biochemistry and Medicinal Chemistry in her institution. She has supervised several undergraduate and postgraduate students and published several articles in peer-reviewed journals. Her research focus is in the areas of medicinal chemistry, bioactive proteins and protein derivatives.

Prof. Oghenerobor Benjamin Akpor

Oghenerobor Benjamin Akpor is a Professor of Microbiology in the Department of Biological Sciences, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. He holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Microbiology. His research experiences have culminated in publication of numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and several oral and poster presentations in local and international conferences. He served as guest and publishing editor of several journals and is a regular reviewer for several scientific journals. His current research interests are in the areas of biological wastewater treatment, water quality management, plant growth promotion and agrowaste recycling and reuse. Besides, his attendance at both local and international conferences and workshops has provided him with the opportunity to learn other new areas outside his area of specialty.
