Topical Collection: Venustas – The Architecture of Delight

The aim of Venustas: The Architecture of Delight (VAD) is to provide a platform for emerging research and innovative design leading towards a new approach to aesthetics in architecture. This new architecture is focused on sensory experience and well-being as the foundation of an architectural aesthetic and is offered as a timely and appropriate response to the current and worsening environmental crisis and impending climate change.

Building upon trends in psychology, aesthetics, engineering, building science and other related fields, it invites research papers, position papers, review articles and case studies presenting original and innovative studies that are either views from within specific disciplines or attempts to connect or integrate different disciplines. Potential areas of relevance include but are not limited to:

  • environmental aesthetics
  • evolutionary aesthetics
  • everyday aesthetics
