Topical Collection: Interdisciplinary - Integrated Project Design toward Industry 4.0
Having as reference Industry 4.0, construction digitalization aims to optimize production processes from design, to building construction and maintenance, systematizing procedures, reducing time and encouraging industrial production. However, within the Construction Industry, the step to digitalization is not straightforward due to the specificity and singularity of each building. Design methodologies have been the driver for change, adopting integrated strategies among various disciplines involved, using universal communication tools from design to construction. In the building site, construction management is optimized as construction phases are better predicted. This holistic perception of a building is providing a new project methodology, the Integrated Project Design.
In this Topical Collection, a collection of experiences and contributions in this area will be collected to provide an overview of an Integrated Project Design framework. All submissions will be peer-reviewed based on originality, technical quality and scientific merit.
