Biological Cybernetics is an interdisciplinary medium for theoretical and application-oriented investigations of information processing and control in organisms. A broad goal of the Journal is to foster and intensify the search for general principles of communication and regulation in biological systems, through detailed studies of specific examples. Topics of interest range from subcellular processes to ecological phenomena, with a special emphasis on sensory, motor, and cognitive neural systems.
Long running journal, founded in 1961
Covers theoretical, experimentally motivated and application-oriented aspects of information processing and control in organisms
Topics range from subcellular processes to ecological phenomena
Special focus on sensory, motor, and cognitive neural systems
Emphasizes communication between life sciences and engineering and theoretical disciplines

Call for articles from Junior Scientists
We have introduced three new article types to be co-authored exclusively by Junior Scientists (defined as graduate students or postdoctoral fellow) and these will be reviewed by one regular reviewer and one or more Junior Scientists. An open invitation is extended for Mini Review, Journal Club and Short Communication article types, as described in our Submission Guidelines.

Announcement: COVID-19 impact on peer review
As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are very aware that many researchers will have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our peer review process during normal times. Please do let us know if you need additional time. Our systems will continue to remind you of the original timelines but we intend to be highly flexible at this time.
