Journal updates

Human Arenas is inviting papers for a special section on individualization. People in (post-)modern societies are increasingly being addressed as agentic individuals who are held responsible for personal aspects of their life and beyond. Such individualization of society has various implications for understanding of the individual subject and broader issues, such as collective solidarity and organizing in society. This has consequences for the subjects’ psyche, society and political spheres.

Submission Deadlines: Submission of abstracts by December 22, 2020. Feedback on abstracts due January 25, 2021. Full paper submissions due by June 15, 2021. 

As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are very aware that many researchers will have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our peer review process during normal times.  Please do let us know if you need additional time. Our systems will continue to remind you of the original timelines but we intend to be highly flexible at this time.

Human Arenas is opening a new call for papers inviting articles to discuss the manifold aspects of the pandemic experience in human life and in the global ecosystem. We invite submissions from all disciplines, including for instance psychology, sociology, philosophy, history, arts, economy, health, biological sciences, etc. with a particular interest in significant and innovative multidisciplinary works. Submissions can be both theoretical and empirical, they must present significant and critical theoretical advancements and reflections.

Submission Deadline: October 30, 2020

This special section of Human Arenas is about the different forms of interactions that take place in teaching and learning activities implying a dimension of dramatization, ritualization and theatricalisation. It will be edited by Shuangshuang Xu, Aalborg University and IBEF. If interested in contributing, please contact the section editor by April 2, 2020 by writing to shuangshuang@hum.aau.dk. The final deadline for submissions will be May 31, 2020.

Special Section: The Problem of Origins

Human beings seem obsessed by the problem of origins: Where we come from, and how origins are able to legitimate the human rights. One can see the power of this theme in history, politics, and social life.
