Aims and scope

Zeitschrift für Ethik und Moralphilosophie (ZEMO) – Journal for Ethics and Moral Philosophy is a biannual, peer-reviewed journal which covers all topics within the fields of Ethics and Moral Philosophy (Normative Ethics, Metaethics, Applied Ethics) as well as related disciplines. Contributions from other areas are welcome as long as they show strong relations to issues in Moral Philosophy. The journal is open to all periods, schools and traditions of ethical thought. The discussion of fundamental issues in moral philosophy, most notably, what ethics is and how it is possible, is given special emphasis.

The main aim of the ZEMO is to inspire and promote controversial debates in Moral Philosophy for an international readership. Articles can be submitted in German or English. We would like to encourage young researchers in the philosophical community to introduce their suggestions into ongoing debates. We attach great importance to the variety of philosophical methods. The contributions should combine original ideas with methodological rigour and avoid technical jargon whenever possible, focusing on argument-driven proposals.

The online journal publishes two issues per year. Each issue contains double-blind peer-reviewed original research to various topics, contrasting commentaries to specific issues, critical essays related to current spotlights of philosophical interest, research notes and book reviews.
