Journal of Healthcare Informatics Research - Call for Papers: Translating Scientific Discoveries into Action

Recent advancements in computation algorithms and biomedical technology have revolutionized biomedical research and generated massive data, knowledge, and scientific discoveries. Health Informatics, an interdisciplinary field between healthcare, computer science, and engineering, is critical in promoting biomedical data use and applying scientific discovery into practice. However, the translation of the scientific knowledge to improve clinical practice and public health is challenged by various factors, such as the complex healthcare environment, public health practices, and policies.

The goal of this special issue is to gather original research works contributing to the translation of scientific discoveries into bedside care, clinical practice, drug development, public health, and policymaking. We invite researchers and practitioners to submit their latest high-quality work on designing, developing, and implementing informatics methods, tools, and applications into action, including (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • Public health informatics: transform public health in the information age
  • Informatics in clinical care, including nursing informatics, dental informatics, and others
  • Informatics-assisted community engagement for patients’ daily care in their natural living environment
  • Health disparity and inequity in evidence-based health information research
  • Digital twins for health (DT4H) to precision medicine and public health
  • Legal informatics in patient care and public health through health policy analysis
  • Informatics tools for communication and dissemination frameworks
  • Decision support tools and development for applications based on real-world data
  • Human factors engineering and ergonomics
  • Drug development with bioinformatics, health informatics, data analytics and visualization
  • Informatics tools and methods to facilitate clinical trials and translational research
