Euro-Mediterranean Journal for Environmental Integration - Call for Paper

Real challenges and possible green solutions for waste from oil and natural gas industry

The oil industry is one of the most important industries in the world as it provides the energy needed to run the world's economy, means of transport, agriculture, livestock, fishing, etc. Today, this industry is facing new environmental challenges due to climate change and the need to reduce the greenhouse effect by reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Today's society, with the new technological knowledge, demands greater control over waste generation, making it necessary to design/modify industrial processes in order to achieve a circular economy. Within this framework, the scientific community has mobilized to make these new demands a reality by establishing legislations, regulations, etc.

This special issue aims to present the current environmental status of the oil industry, the innovations incorporated, present and future solutions for the handling and management of the waste generated, the new procedures for the treatment of the waste generated and the new proposals to achieve a circular economy in such complex industries. The main audience of this special Issue will be the conference participants of the ‘3rd International Conference on Petroleum: Waste Management in Oil and Gas Industry, Koya University, Iraq, April 28-30, 2024’ from whom the authors will be invited to publish their manuscripts in this Special Issue. In addition, this Special Issue is open to all the author works in this field around the world.
