Nanotechnology for Environmental Engineering - Call for Papers

Advanced functional materials for water and wastewater treatment

Water is an essential resource for humans as well as all other living beings. Rapid industrialization and urbanization led to contamination of waters. So, in the field of water and wastewater treatment advanced functional materials are desired to prevent pollution of natural water stream. Sustainable materials (e.g. organic, inorganic, electrodes and photo-electrodes materials) received much attention due their efficiency to adsorb or mineralize most of the compounds. This issue will bring out articles that are providing novel physical, chemical and biological technologies. Therefore, this special issue focuses on the advancements in the preparation of advanced functional materials and their performance to adsorb or degrade persistent pollutants.

The aim of this Special Issue is to publish original research with a focus on advanced functional materials preparation for water and wastewater treatment, as well as review articles discussing the current state of the art. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Biomasses valorization for the preparation of sustainable materials and their applications in water and wastewater treatment.
  2. Naturals materials (e.g. sand, clay and bio-materials) and their application in water and wastewater treatment.
  3. Design, synthesis and characterization of electrodes/photo-electrodes for water and wastewater treatment.
  4. Synthesis and characterization of oxides and their composites for photocatalysis process.
  5. Synthesis and characterization of functional Carbocatalysts for PS and PMS activation.
  6. Synthesis and characterization of functional polymers for environmental application.
  7. Synthesis and characterization of functionalized carbon based materials for organic and inorganic pollutants remediation.
  8. Design and synthesis of Nano-materials for environmental application.
  9. 2D functional materials for environmental application.
  10. Supported catalyst for wet air oxidation application.
  11. Preparation of transition metal oxide catalysts for catalytic abatement of toxic pollutants.
  12. Theorical investigation, numerical optimization, chemical mechanisms and surface interface characterizations.

We look forward to publishing your work with us.

Submission Deadline: 30 June, 2021
