This journal aims to publish original and cutting-edge research in all areas of political science, such as political theory, comparative politics, international relations, public administration, public policy, methodology, and Chinese politics and government.

In the meantime it also provides a major and visible platform for the intellectual dialogue between Chinese and international scholars, and disseminate scholarship that can shed light on the ever changing field of Chinese political studies, stimulate reflective discourse as the field continues to develop both within and outside China.

All research articles published in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review. In additional original research articles, Chinese Political Science Review also publishes book reviews to disseminate comprehensive reviews of emerging topics in all areas of political science.

    Poverty and politics are interrelated in complex ways. On the one hand, improved governance plays a central role in combating poverty. Good governance requires state capability, responsiveness and accountability. It means making government work for the poor. On the other hand, the effectiveness and limitations of different poverty-reduction strategies also generate political consequences. Poverty alleviation efforts have an effect on state governance, political legitimacy and political development. The current scholarship on poverty alleviation has been dominated by economic studies. However, political science can offer insights into poverty alleviation and make theoretical contributions to governance scholarship.

We call for papers that would engage in reflective and critical discourse on the subject matters, with no limit on the scope and topics, and shed light on our understanding of state foreign policy behaviors, and the future of globalization, world order and global governance.
