Topics in Current Chemistry - Topical Collections

Topics in Current Chemistry presents critical reviews covering all areas chemical science including the interfaces with related disciplines such as biology, medicine, physics and materials science. Our thematic collection is to give the non-specialist reader, whether in academia or industry, a comprehensive insight into an area where new research is emerging which is of interest to a larger scientific audience.

Each review within the topical collection critically and extensively surveys one aspect of that topic and places it within the context of the collection as a whole.  The authorship should include scientists from institutes worldwide. Each review should be approximately 25 printed pages/8100 words of text, 20 figures and 100 references. All contributions should also offer an outlook on potential future developments in the field.
Each proposal for a new topical collection will be reviewed and confirmed by our editorial board. Our proposal form asks for a tentative list of contributions as well as a short paragraph describing the scope and significance of the collection

As Guest Editors of a topical collection, you will

  • Plan the outline of the collection including a list of topics/titles for the contributions
  • Identify suitable authors for each contribution and contact them informally asking if they are available to contribute
  • Organise the Peer Review Process for the submission in line with our Publisher’s Code of Conduct for Editors

If you are interested in publishing a topical collection and you wish to request the proposal from or want to discuss a possible topic, please contact our Publishing Editor, Christiane Brox (christiane.brox@springer.com (this opens in a new tab)).

Reasons to contribute to a collection in Topics in Current Chemistry:

  • PUBLICATION IN A RENOWNED JOURNAL/SERIES: Topics in Current Chemistry is listed in numerous Abstracting and Indexing services (PubMed/Medline, Current Chemical Reactions, Google Scholar, SCOPUS, Science Citation Index, SciSearch, web of Science (ISI)).
  • WIDE DISSEMINATION: The chapters and the volume will be available on our platform SpringerLink, one of the largest collections of scholarly content in the world. SpringerLink attracts more than 50 million users at 15.000 institutions worldwide.
  • EASY MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION: Authors do not have to spend their valuable time on the layout of their contribution. Springer will take care of all the layout related issues and will provide support throughout the complete process.
  • CONTINUOUS ARTICLE PUBLICATION: As soon as Springer receives the final approved manuscript from the Guest Editor it will be typeset and published on the platform SpringerLink with a citable DOI, which remains valid even after the publication of the complete volume. The Topical collections are viewable online as they develop
  • Each topical collection is also published as book in our book series Topics in Current Chemistry Collections.
  • Authors will be able to judge the success of their contribution by the number of downloads, citations, social media mentions etc. This data is available on SpringerLink once your contribution is published online.
  • By contributing to this volume, authors will pass on knowledge for future generations, and extend the reach of their work to those who are not direct members of their peer group.
