Urban Rail Transit - Call for Papers: High Quality Development of TOD in Mega-region and Metropolitan Areas

During the 14th Five-Year period (2021-2025), China has shifted to the stage of high-quality development of new-type urbanization. Under the concepts of ecological civilization, social harmony, security and resilience, the demand for integrated development of national territory and transportation has been further deepened. Under the guidance of the new development concept, accelerating the planning and construction of urban (sub-urban) railways in mega-region and metropolitan areas, and constructing a pattern of integrated development of high-speed railways, intercity and urban (sub-urban) railways, and urban rail transit, requires deepening of the supply-side structural reform and strengthening of the efficient connection of various modes of transportation and spatial utilization of the national territory; continuing to push forward the "Station-City Integration" based on the synergistic multi-system, and continuously promoting mature technologies and technologies. Continuously promote the transformation of mature technologies and standards to the intercity and urban (sub-urban) railway and urban rail transit market, strengthen the in-depth cooperation with the local railway investment corporation and metro owners. Innovate the development mode and path of intercity and sub-urban railways, and comprehensively assist the strategic goal of high-quality development of new urbanization.

In order to strengthen academic exchanges in the field of TOD, the journal Urban Rail Transit invite contributions from experts and scholars at home and abroad, and organize a column on "High-quality development of TOD mega-region and metropolitan areas". The column will provide solutions to the synergistic development of rail transit and cities in mega-region and metropolitan areas through a multidisciplinary, multidimensional and multiscale perspective. Five to eight papers in English will be organized, and all papers will be published in Urban Rail Transit after peer review.

The topic of paper including but not limited in:

  1. Integrated development between rail transportation and spatial planning.
  2. Mega-regions and metropolitan areas and integrated transportation synergistic development.
  3. Municipal (sub-urban) railway and "station-city integration" planning and construction.
  4. Capturing value of land along the railway.
  5. Railway transportation culture and railway heritage protection.
  6. High-speed rail comprehensive transportation hub development and design.
  7. TOD transportation energy saving and low carbon development.
  8. TOD and urban renewal.
  9. TOD and reconfiguration of jobs-housing space relationship.
  10. TOD and residents' travel behavior
  11. TOD and financial financing tools.
  12. Public service facilities and living area construction based on TOD.
