Data science is considered as the most attractive branch of mathematical science. It does not stop at simply collecting data and applying statistical processing, but also includes the use of high-speed computers for analyzing the vast amounts of data that were unimaginable in the 20th century and the rapid progress made in the 21st century toward the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which is synonymous with cutting-edge science and technology. In the 21st century, the combination of high-speed computers for analyzing this data and artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which has made rapid progress toward practical use, is becoming synonymous with cutting-edge science and technology. Under these circumstances, we have organized a research group under the slogan of "complex systems science" or "evolutionary economics" to seek opportunities for dialogue between researchers in the fields of physics and economics in order to launch a new field of econophysics since around 2000. After a quarter of a century, various elements have been picked up and are forming a single field, incorporating knowledge from engineering and information science to solve problems.

At this moment, we are pleased to announce a special issue of the EIER series on "Data-Driven Mathematical Sciences and Econophysics" and invite papers.

The theme of your work can be chosen as long as it is within the scope of the title, but we particularly welcome topics related to mathematical science and data analysis in a broad sense, including

  • data analysis
  • mathematical modeling,
  • agent simulation,
  • game theory and social dilemmas,
  • econophysics, and
  • other topics related to economics, society, and finance.

Please follow the submission guidelines (this opens in a new tab) when preparing your manuscript.

Papers must be submitted to the journal's submission system (this opens in a new tab). Please select “Yes” for the question “Does this manuscript belong to a special issue?” found at the bottom of the Additional Information tab and then select the special issue “S.I. :  Data-Driven Mathematical Sciences and Econophysics”.

Unfortunately, it will take a while for the submission system to be ready to receive submissions for this special issue topic. Please refrain from submitting your paper until further notice will be made in this page. Please note that the system can receive other paper submissions (i.e., papers not intended for this special feature) as usual.

UPDATED on November 25, 2022: The submission system is now ready to receive submissions for "S.I. : Data-Driven Mathematical Sciences and Econophysics".
