International Journal of Coal Science & Technology - Special Issue on Gas Geo-storage and Unconventional Energy Sources Recovery

The scope of this special issue encompasses, but is not limited to:

  • H2, He, CH4, and CO2 geo-storage across molecular to reservoir scales, based on numerical, experimental and pilot investigations;
  • Geothermal energy harvesting encompasses multi-physical mechanisms, such as heat transfer and fluid transport;
  • Gas hydrate recovery with particular interests in phase equilibrium and applications of molecular dynamic simulations;
  • Shale hydrocarbon and coalbed methane recovery, particularly fluids transport phenomena in (nano)porous media;
  • Advances in low-maturity oil shale pyrolysis and underground coal gasification;
  • Heavy oil recovery by thermal and/or chemical flooding techniques;
  • Coal/mineral mining and processing as well as safety science;
  • Techno-economic, environmental impact and climate policy assessments;
  • Other relevant topics.
