Eating and Weight Disorders - Studies on Anorexia, Bulimia and Obesity - Obesity Paradox: a topical collection

Guest Editor: Ottavio Bosello (ottavio.bosello@univr.it)

The Topical Collection focuses on the Obesity Paradox, an inverse association between body mass index (BMI) and mortality reported in patients with many disease states and in several clinical settings: hemodialysis, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, surgery etc.

Metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) metabolically obese normal weight (MONW) and obesity paradox (OP) are controversial phenomena that basically appear as a consequence of the frail current diagnostic definition of obesity based only on BMI and call for a commonly established new characterization and classification of obesities based on a number of variables.
