European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology - Call for Papers: Laryngopharyngeal reflux disease: debunking false beliefs through evidence-based medicine

Despite the number of studies published in literature over the years, diagnosing and managing laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is often the center of debates and conflicts within researchers.

This Special Issue aims at highlighting new and emerging aspects and theories in the field of pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of LPR as a means to debunk “false myths” related to this clinical condition on the one hand, and present evidence-based medicine on the other hand. The wish is to collect the most recent knowledge that can help both, general practitioners and physicians, provide a more comprehensive and personalized approach to LPR patients. Moreover, this would promote a multidisciplinary collaboration between otolaryngologists, gastroenterologists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, and gastroenterological surgeons, thanks to the updates presented which include biological markers, risk factors, diagnostic algorithms, and therapeutic approaches available for this patient population.

Examples of topics include:

- Pathophysiology of LPR

- Molecular pathways

- Biological markers and/or genetic factors of LPR

- Pediatric LPR

- Screening tools for LPR

- Diagnostic options for LPR

- Treatment options for LPR

- Diet and LPR

- Psychosocial distress and LPR

- LPR and improving vocal fold lesions

- LPR and laryngeal cancer

- LPR and professional voice

- Atypical LPR/ differential diagnosis with LPR
