European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology was founded in 1864 as Archiv für Ohrenheilkunde by A. von Tröltsch, A. Politzer, and H. Schwartze. 

Aims and scope

The European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology is a distinguished international journal that publishes original clinical reports and clinically relevant experimental studies, as well as short communications presenting new results of interest in all specialties of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology and Head & Neck. Manuscripts dealing with Plastic Surgery of the Head and Neck round out the journal’s scope.

Founded in 1864, the journal has been a trusted source of useful clinical information and springboard for scientific discussion for more than a century. With peer review by a respected international editorial board and prompt English-language publication, it provides the rapid dissemination of clinical and clinically related information by authors from around the world. This particular feature makes the Archives the journal of choice for readers who want to stay informed about the state of the art in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the head and neck and related scientific developments on an international level.

Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editorial office electronically via EditorialManager (see "Submission guidelines").

Manuscripts submitted for publication must include a statement to the effect that all human studies were reviewed by the appropriate ethics committee and were conducted in accordance with the ethical standards laid down in an appropriate version of the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki. It should also be stated clearly in the text that all persons gave their informed consent prior to their inclusion in the study. Details that might disclose the identity of the subjects under study should be omitted.

Reports concerning animal experiments must confirm that the “Principles of Laboratory Animal Care” (NIH publication No. 86-23, revised 1985), as well as specific national laws (e.g. the current version of the German Law on the Protection of Animals) where applicable, were adhered to.

The Editors-in-Chief reserve the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements. The author(s) will be held responsible for any false statements or for their failure to fulfill the above-mentioned requirements.
