The Journal of the Astronautical Sciences - 2024 Kathleen C. Howell Outstanding Paper Award

On behalf of The Journal of the Astronautical Sciences published by the American Astronautical Society and Springer Nature Group, it is my great pleasure to announce the establishment of the Kathleen C. Howell Outstanding Paper Award. This award is named to recognize and honor the outstanding leadership and professional service contributions by the journal's longstanding former Editor-in-Chief Professor Kathleen Howell from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Purdue University. The award will be made on an annual basis. Selection will be made by a select committee of the JAS Editorial Board following rigorous evaluation of all papers published in the journal during the prior calendar year. 

The winner of the 2024 Journal of the Astronautical Sciences Kathleen C. Howell Outstanding Paper Award is Dr. Ashley Biria for authoring the paper titled: Revisiting Universal Variables for Robust, Analytical Orbit Propagation Under the Vinti Potential, Volume 70, Number 5, 2023.
