Aims and scope

Molecular Diagnosis & Therapy welcomes current opinion articles on emerging or contentious issues, comprehensive narrative reviews, systematic reviews (as outlined by the PRISMA statement), original research articles (including short communications) and letters to the editor. All manuscripts are subject to peer review by international experts.

Topic coverage of the journal includes:

  • Use of biomarkers to guide drug development and to serve as diagnostics or prognostic tools.
  • Detection, monitoring, and treatment of molecular causes of disease.
  • Molecular markers and genetic variation affecting drug response, drug metabolism, adverse effects, and/or disease progression.
  • Drug/diagnostic combinations (theranostics).
  • Emerging molecular diagnostic tools and technologies.
  • Pathogen detection and drug resistance analysis.
  • Ethical and regulatory issues relating to precision medicine.

Additional digital features (including animated abstracts, video abstracts, slide decks, audio slides, instructional videos, infographics, podcasts and animations) can be published with articles; these are designed to increase the visibility, readership and educational value of the journal’s content. In addition, articles published in Molecular Drugs & Therapy may be accompanied by plain language summaries to assist readers who have some knowledge of, but not in-depth expertise in, the area to understand important medical advances.
