Supported by a research grant of the German Science Foundation (DFG), he was a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, where he was working on biodegradable polymer vesicles and their interactions with proteins. He then returned to the University of Bayreuth, where he started work on colloidal clusters. Alexander Wittemann received his habilitation in physical chemistry in 2011. His work was honored by the Science Award of the Universitätsverein Bayreuth in 2008. In the same year, he was granted a stipend from the Dr. Otto Röhm Gedächtnisstiftung (2008). In 2009, Alexander Wittemann was awarded the Richard-Zsigmondy-Scholarship of the German Colloid Society. His current research interests include stimuli-reponsive colloids, nanostructured polymer particles, protein adsorption, supracolloidal assembly, colloidal molecules, and nanoparticle fractionation. He started working as editor for the journal in 2019 and is Editor-in-Chief since 2023.

After his post-doctoral training at Rice University, Dr. Zhu joined the department of polymer science at the university of Akron in 2012. Dr. Zhu group conducts researches in flexible electronics, energy conversion/storage and polymer composites. Currently, the research interests focus on the structure-property relationship of conjugated polymer, solid polymer electrolyte, controlled synthesis and assembly of nanomaterials. Dr. Zhu is a recipient of National Science Foundation CAREER Award, American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund Doctoral New Investigator Award, and Emerging Young Investigator Award of Journal of Materials Chemistry A (RSC). Since 2017, Dr. Zhu became an associate/regional editor of Colloid of Polymer Science.

Chief Advisory Editor

FRIEDRICH KREMER

Prof. Friedrich Kremer, Chief Advisory Editor

Friedrich Kremer is professor emeritus at the university of Leipzig, where he holds the chair for molecular physics from 1993 – 2015. He graduated in theoretical physics (LMU Munich) and received his PhD at the university of Freiburg in experimental biology. From 1978 - 1995 he joined the Max-Planck-Institue (MPI) for solid state physics (Stuttgart) and from1985 – 1993 the MPI for polymer research (Mainz). From 1999 – 2003 he was chairman of the sections "Polymerphysik" and "Chemische Physik und Polymer-physik" of the German Physical Society (DPG). His research is focused on structure and dynamics in soft condensed matter especially as studied by Broadband Dielectric and refined InfraRed (IR) Spectroscopy. He published more than 390 papers in peer-reviewed journals including Nature, Science, PRL, Macromolecules etc and edited several books. In 2005 he received the Karl Heinz Beckurts Award for his achievements in promoting Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy and its applications and in 2011 the Wolfgang Ostwald Prize of the German Colloid Society. From 1993 – 2015 he was co-editor of Colloid & Polymer Science, Springer Verlag and acts since then as advisory editor in chief.

Associate Editors

GÜNTER K. AUERNHAMMER

Prof. Günter K. Auernhammer, Associate Editor

Since October 2017 Günter K. Auernhammer heads an experimental group at the Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research in Dresden, Germany. His research focuses on dynamics in soft matter systems, including on dynamics of wetting and dynamics of colloidal and granular matter. Previously, he was heading an experimental group focusing on dynamics of soft matter at the Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung in Mainz, Germany.

Günter K. Auernhammer studied physics at the Universität Bayreuth (Germany) and Université Denis Diderot (Paris, France). In 2004 he obtained his PhD in theoretical physics with a thesis on instabilities in layered liquids, like smectic liquid crystals and block copolymers. As a Postdoc he switched to experiments and first jointed the Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung. There he became interested in phase separation kinetics. As an Individual Marie Curie Fellow he joined the Université Louis Pasteur, Institute de Mécanique des Fluides et des Solides (Strasbourg, France) for two years. There he mainly studied magnetic colloids embedded in polymeric matrices, especially uniaxial magnetic sols and gels and their mechanical and optical properties.

RIO KITA

Prof. Rio Kita, Associate Editor

Rio Kita has been a professor at Department of Physics in Tokai University, Japan, since 2014. He studied polymer physics at Gunma University, Japan and received his PhD in 1999 studying critical phenomena of polymer and surfactant solutions by means of scattering methods. From 1999 to 2002 he was a postdoctoral researcher at RIKEN (The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research), Japan, working on characterizations of biopolymers. In 2002 he joined the group of Prof. Wegner at MPI-P (Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research/Mainz), Germany where he was responsible to the polymer analysis group.
