Basic Research in Cardiology’s “Topical Collections” focus on a specific and well defined topic. A topical collection is edited by an expert guest editor. Following up on invited contributions, the submission of timely original papers and pertinent reviews is advertised as an “Open Call”. The guest editor together with the editor-in-chief supervises the peer review process and renders the final decision on each submission. Accepted papers will appear immediately on-line in a regular issue of Basic Research in Cardiology and, in addition, will be compiled in a separate on-line presentation of the topical collection.
