New Generation Computing - Call for Papers on "Bird's-eye View of Artificial Intelligence"

Aims and Scope

The field of artificial intelligence (AI) research continues to expand, making it difficult to get a bird's-eye view of the entire field. Numerous AI systems developed from the results of AI research are beginning to be applied in the real world, making it difficult to grasp the relationship between AI systems and AI technology. The Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI) has developed a guide called "AI Map Beta," which is intended for beginning AI researchers and for researchers and practitioners in different fields who are aiming to utilize AI.

This special issue is planned to present a bird's-eye view "map" of the state of AI in order to form a common understanding of the diverse aspects of AI and to stimulate discussion on finding the next frontier of AI study. The following topics are envisioned, but not limited to

  • AI "maps" drawn from various aspects
  • Relationships between various academic disciplines and AI study
  • AI in society
  • Philosophy needed for the AI frontiers
  • The role of research communities in pushing the AI frontiers

Paper Submission Deadline: May 31st, 2023
Publication Date: Accepted papers will be made available online on the Springer website shortly after acceptance. The publication date of the printed version will be determined when the Special Issue is finalized.

  • Submission deadline: May 31st, 2023
  • Authors’ notification: September 30th, 2023
  • Revisions due: October 31th, 2023
  • Final decision: December 22nd, 2023

Submission Guidelines

Authors should prepare their manuscript according to the submission guidelines (this opens in a new tab). All papers must be submitted to the journal's submission system (this opens in a new tab). During the submission stage, please select “Yes” for the question “Does this manuscript belong to a special feature?” in the Additional Information tab, then select the special feature “S.I. : Bird's-eye View of Artificial Intelligence”. (Currently, this option is not available in the submission system. We will make a notice in this page when it is ready.) UPDATED on March 9, 2023: The submission system is now ready to receive submissions for “S.I. : Bird's-eye View of Artificial Intelligence”.
