New Generation Computing - Call for Papers on "Molecular Cybernetics: Theory and Practice toward Chemical AI"

Aim and Scope

The advance of dynamic DNA nanotechnology has opened up opportunities for bottom-up engineering of biomolecular systems for the past two decades. Many chemical reaction systems with computational abilities have been proposed, but most of them are fixed functions that output molecular output for given molecular input. On the other hand, the establishment of a methodology to realize more adaptive/robust/plastic biomolecular systems with learning abilities will open up the next opportunities for the "cybernetic" molecular world in which various molecular devices are highly integrated and work together while adapting unknown environments.

This special issue is open to cutting-edge theoretical, computational, and experimental studies regarding

  • molecular computational algorithms for learning
  • design and implementation of molecular systems with learning capabilities
  • bottom-up engineering of intelligent and adaptive molecular systems
  • integration of multiple molecular devices such as molecular robots

based on chemical methodologies. Broad topics in synthetic and systems biologies related to these items are also welcomed.

Paper Submission Deadline: August 31st, 2023
Publication Date: Accepted papers will be made available online on the Springer website shortly after acceptance. The publication date of the printed version will be determined when the Special Issue is finalized.

Important Dates

  • Submission deadline: August 31st, 2023
  • Authors’ notification: October 30th, 2023
  • Revisions due: November 31th,2023
  • Final decision: January 31th, 2024

Submission Guidelines

Authors should prepare their manuscript according to the submission guidelines (this opens in a new tab). All papers must be submitted to the journal's submission system (this opens in a new tab).

During the submission stage, please select “Yes” for the question “Does this manuscript belong to a special feature?” in the Additional Information tab, then select the special feature “S.I. : Molecular Cybernetics”. (Currently, this option is not available in the submission system. We will make a notice in this page when it is ready.) UPDATED on February 22, 2023: The submission system is now ready to receive submissions for “S.I. : Molecular Cybernetics”.
