Applied Physics B - Best Student Paper prize

Marking the 40th anniversary of Applied Physics B, a new Best Student paper prize has been introduced. Entries were captured from all current students who were the first-author on papers published in 2021, which were assessed by the editorial board and a shortlist selected based upon the quality and relative impact. In total one winner with two runners up have been chosen for this inaugural year of the Applied Physics B Best Student Paper Awards

We are pleased to announce the Winner for the 2021 Best Student Prize was Vishnu Radhakrishna, with runners up Yu Wang and Pavel Cherpak

Their papers cover ultra-fast-laser absorption spectroscopy and fundamental properties of optical materials and devices, representative of the broad spectrum of topics covered in this journal. We are proud to commend these remarkable achievements and look forward to the papers receiving the credit they deserve from the scientific community.
