Aims and scope

Current Microbiology is a well-established journal that publishes articles in all aspects of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells and the interactions between the microorganisms, their hosts and the environment.

Current Microbiology publishes original research articles, short communications, reviews and letters to the editor, spanning the following sections:

Infectious Diseases
Antimicrobial Resistance
Host-Microbe Interactions
Environmental Diversity
Food Microbiology
Microbial Biotechnology
Microbial Physiology & Metabolism
Systematics
Genomic Microbiology and Microbial Evolution
Eukaryotic Microorganisms
Viruses

We welcome topical review articles on the above topics but the content should be discussed with the Editors prior to submission indicating how this manuscript would be different from recent review articles in the field.

Please note that we do not publish systematic reviews and meta-analysis, case reports and clinical trial studies.

Microbial isolates should be correctly identified and characterized using molecular methods. 16S rRNA gene sequence comparison (more than 800 nt) is mandatory between prokaryotic isolates and validly named type strains of species.
