Acta Informatica - Topical Collection on Advances in String Processing Algorithms and String Data Structures

Aims:

This topical collection aims to explore the cutting-edge developments in string algorithms, their underlying mathematical structures, and their wide-ranging applications. String algorithms play a crucial role in various domains, including bioinformatics, information retrieval, natural language processing, text mining, and more.

Scope:

The topical collection aims to provide a platform for researchers to present their latest research in string algorithms, text indexes, and lossless data compression. Contributions can be purely theoretical or include algorithm-engineering aspects based on algorithmic innovations from a theoretical viewpoint. Submissions in the form of original research articles and surveys are invited.

Papers are solicited on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • string pattern matching
  • data structures for string processing
  • text compression
  • text mining
  • compressed data structures
  • compressed string processing
  • combinatorics on words
  • pattern discovery
  • string algorithms
  • text searching and indexing

Guest Editors:

Prof. Dominik Köppl, University of Yamanashi, Japan, dkppl@yamanashi.ac.jp
Prof. Golnaz Badkobeh, City, University of London, UK, golnaz.badkobeh@city.ac.uk

Manuscript submission deadline: 1st April 2024

Peer Review Process:

All the papers will go through peer review,  and will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. A thorough check will be completed, and the guest editor will check any significant similarity between the manuscript under consideration and any published paper or submitted manuscripts of which they are aware. In such case, the article will be directly rejected without proceeding further. Guest editors will make all reasonable effort to receive the reviewer’s comments and recommendation on time. The final decision is taken by the Editor-in-Chief.

The submitted papers must provide original research that has not been published nor is currently under review by other venues. Previously published conference papers should be clearly identified by the authors at the submission stage and an explanation should be provided about how such papers have been extended to be considered for this topical collection (with at least 30% difference from the original works).

Submission Guidelines:

Paper submissions for the topical collection should strictly follow the submission format and guidelines (https://www.springer.com/journal/236/submission-guidelines (this opens in a new tab)).

Manuscripts must be submitted via the 'Submit your manuscript' button on the journal homepage.
During the submission process authors should select the appropriate collection title when asked if the manuscript belongs to a collection.

Springer provides a host of information about publishing in a Springer Journal on our Journal Author Resources page, including  FAQs (this opens in a new tab),  Tutorials (this opens in a new tab)  along with  Help and Support (this opens in a new tab).
