Call for Papers: EBPS 2023 special edition; Stress, Trauma and Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids regulate the HPA-axis allowing an individual to regulate a healthy level of stress. But there is also evidence to suggest that the levels of circulating endocannabinoids such as AEA and 2-AG are different between individuals and are impacted by genetics and environment. It is still unclear whether individuals are genetically predisposed to stress resilience through innate endocannabinoid levels but the talk in our symposia certainly highlights the lifelong effects of cannabinoids in health and well-being. Cannabis is becoming more easily available throughout the world with many European countries in late stage talks to legalize cannabis for recreational use. Whilst several studies show positive effects in later life (i.e. 18+ populations) for various mental health conditions, the increased availability may negatively impact youth and adolescents, so it is important to have an issue incorporating early life exposure and challenges. We are interested in papers from animal and human studies including original articles and reviews.
Deadline: Initial submissions due September 1st, 2024. Please notify the guest editors of your intent to publish prior to the deadline.
