Journal of Cryptology - Announcement of new Editor-in-Chief

Springer is pleased to announce that Vincent Rijmen is taking over from Kenneth Paterson as the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Cryptology, effective as of January 1, 2021.

Previously, Professor Rijmen was an Editorial Board member for the journal. He is affiliated with KU Leuven, Belgium and University of Bergen, Norway. One of his most notable achievements is designing the Rijndael block cipher which was selected by National Institute of Standards and Technology as the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in 2000. Today, the cipher provides security on virtually all electronic devices and is highly influential in the world of cryptography.

Professor Rijmen’s goals are to maintain Journal of Cryptology’s high standard and prestige, increase the impact of the journal, and continue efforts to bring down the time from submission to publication.

Springer is deeply grateful to Professor Kenneth Paterson for his leadership and hard work, and we are excited for Professor Rijmen to continue his success as the new Editor-in-Chief, and ensure that the journal continues to thrive.
