A Thematic special issue on Genome Editing for Food, Nutrition and Health: From Basic Biology to Translational Research is planned for publication in April 2024.

About the Special Issue

The invention and rapid advancement of genome editing technologies have unprecedentedly empowered researchers to make precise changes in the genomes of prokaryotes and eukaryotes. The increasing availability of diverse and efficient genome editing tools has impacted almost every field of biology and biotechnology. These tools help rapidly develop animal disease models and mutants for specific genes to facilitate basic biological investigations.

Genome editing has been used widely in improving agricultural crops and correcting or introducing genetic mutations to treat diseases. In a record time, fruits of genome editing have made their way to market in the form of agricultural products as improved varieties and clinical trials in the form of novel therapeutics.

This special issue aims to highlight the depth and breadth of research ranging from tools and techniques of genome editing, their advancement, and application in basic biology, biotechnology, agriculture, and human health and diseases to regulatory and ethical landscapes. We welcome the submission of original research articles, mini and full-length reviews, and perspectives.

Please communicate with the Guest Editor/s if you are willing to submit a Contribution and provide an Abstract as a pre-submission enquiry.

Any query about the submission process should be addressed to the Guest Editors of the special issue with the Subject line as:  The NUCLEUS - THEMATIC SPECIAL ISSUE, April 2024 to identify the articles from the submissions in the EM system for the special issue only.
