SERIEs - Call for Papers - Special Issue on Gender in the Economy

Guest Editors
Lídia Farré (this opens in a new tab) (Institute for Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC) and Barcelona School of Economics (BSE))
Judit Vall Castelló (this opens in a new tab) (Universitat de Barcelona, IEB, CRES-UPF)

Scope
Claudia Goldin’s Nobel Prize 2023 emphasizes the critical role of gender equality for economic prosperity. Despite substantial advancements, important differences between men and women persist both in the public and the private sphere. The prevalence of barriers and constraints that hinder women’s personal and economic development lead to significant efficiency losses due to talent misallocation.

This Special Issue aims to present innovative theoretical and empirical research that investigates the root causes of persistent gender gaps and evaluate interventions to eradicate gender disparities in order to achieve a more efficient allocation of talent.

For that purpose, we invite researchers to submit papers on several related topics including, but not necessarily limited to, the following:

  • Novel evidence on the gender gaps.
  • Gender norms and stereotypes.
  • Family formation and subsequent decisions.
  • Parental wellbeing and children’s health.
  • Women leadership.
  • Victimization and violence against women.
  • Gender discrimination.
  • Evaluation of family and labor market policies.
  • Economic efficiency and gender equality.

Submission DeadlineNovember 30, 2024
