Call for Papers: Special Issue on Systems Monitoring and Maintenance – new models, trends and applications in the context of IoT and Maintenance 4.0

Abstract

The importance of technical systems maintenance has increased in recent past decades mainly for two reasons. First, poorly maintained equipment may lead to more frequent equipment failures, poor utilization of equipment and delayed operational schedules. Misaligned or malfunctioning equipment may result in scrap or products of questionable quality manufacturing. Second, the development of such solutions as Machine Learning methods, Artificial Intelligence models, Internet of Things, or sensor-based condition monitoring constitute the recent intelligent and predictive maintenance systems performance. These technologies on advancing reliability and asset management deliver new value for every organization in the context of Maintenance 4.0 implementation.

As a result, many models and methods have been developed for effective/optimal maintenance performance essential to ensure high availability and reliability during physical assets life time. Following this, the objectives of papers will be to present technical and modelling research results, applications of sensors, and maintenance engineering solutions to serve as a forum for maintenance researchers to indicate the main future directions of Maintenance 4.0 development.

Experimental and theoretical works are both welcome in the area of maintenance modelling and applications in various industry sectors. Critical reviews and surveys of the state of the art and practice are also highly encouraged.

The aim of this special issue is to publish important selected papers presented at the 5th International Conference on Mathematical Techniques in Engineering Applications (ICMTEA2021: http://www.icmtea.in), held in Dehradun, India on December 3-4, 2021, but open to other authors also with high quality articles.
