Sankhya A - Dipak Dey wins IISA Lifetime Achievement Award for 2022

It is our pleasure and honor to annouNeuer Inhaltnce that Dr. Dipak Dey from University of Connecticut and Editor-in-Chief of our journals Sankhya A (this opens in a new tab) and Sankhya B (this opens in a new tab) has won the IISA Lifetime Achievement Award for 2022!!
We are very pleased about this honour and congratulate Dr. Dey for this prestigious award!

The Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) recognizes distinguished members of the association who represent ‘models of excellence’ to the International Indian Statistical Association (IISA) members. Specifically, the award recognizes outstanding contributions to the theory, methods and application of statistics including probability, data science and technology (research, innovation, and leadership) by IISA members including India Chapter members. The award also recognizes innovative contribution to the statistics profession through significant impact on matters of societal concern on health, safety, environment, economic development and welfare. The LAA is the highest professional award conferred by IISA bestowed to its members.

Dr. Dipak’s research portfolio encompasses diverse problems in statistical theory and methods focusing primarily on Bayesian decision theory and related developments in categorical and longitudinal data, clustering and classification, spatio-temporal data and survival data analysis. His research has been disseminated through diverse outlets including over
300 scholarly peer-reviewed articles, over 10 books or edited volumes, and more than 250 talks delivered at professional meetings and various academic departments across the world.

His books continue to be standard references and pedagogical resources for practitioners from various disciplines. Substantive scientific areas that his research has embraced include applications of statistics in biology, chemistry, computer science, econometrics, and geosciences, medicine, and optics.

His excellence in research has been recognized through the conferral of a vast array of awards and honors. These include his elected Fellowships of the American Statistical Association (ASA), the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA), and an elected membership of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).
