Psychological Studies - 33rd Annual Convention of the National Academy of Psychology (NAOP)

The 33rd annual convention of the National Academy of Psychology (NAOP) will be organized by the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management - GITAM (deemed-to-be University) from February 14th to 16th, 2024 in Visakhapatnam. The conference's theme is “Psychology for Sustainable Development: Empowering the Future”, a theme inspired by India’s G20 objectives.

Fraternity from Psychology and SDG allied disciplines are invited to present their work and be part of the deliberations at this annual convention. GITAM has Gandhi in its name and in this context, the convention aims to integrate the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and K. Rama Krishna Rao, a renowned psychologist, on the themes of consciousness and indigenization to foster a comprehensive understanding of the role of psychology in sustainable development.

Highlights of the Convention:
The Convention looks at sustainable development from a transdisciplinary perspective and curates unique sessions involving expert speakers, thematic round-tables, and pre-and post-conference workshops across niche tracks including Behavioral Change for Sustainability, Building Resilience, Practising Psychology as a Science, Equity, Justice, and Well-being and Indian Psychology. The Annual conference this year brings together three categories of awards - the NAOP Best Paper Award, the M.B. Sharan Best Paper Award, and the Prof. Durganand Sinha Dissertation Award. Also, to celebrate the life and work of Prof. K. Ramakrishna Rao, a distinguished lecture will be delivered by a renowned Psychologist. This convention introduces a unique mentoring session bringing together senior psychologists who will handhold young psychology professionals.
