OPSEARCH - Call for Papers: Special Issue on Innovations and Advancements in Sustainable Supply Chain Management

Supply chain management (SCM) has evolved as the foundational pillar of contemporary corporate organizations, transcending national borders, and redefining the dynamics of demand and supply. SCM is often described as the art of delivering the Right Product to the Right Place, at the Right Time and at the Right Cost. The interaction of various operational facets has become complex in the modern global business landscape, forming an intricate web of interconnections.

Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) now occupies a pivotal role in today's global business environment and promises even more significant potential for the future. SSCM is recognized as a strategic imperative for enterprises aiming to reduce their ecological footprint, enhance social responsibility and optimize overall supply chain efficiency. It involves infusing sustainability principles into all facets of supply chain operations, spanning sourcing, procurement, transportation, and distribution.

The role of SSCM is set to evolve in several vital ways. It will become instrumental in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aligning supply chain practices with these global objectives for a better future. Additionally, SSCM's scope will also encompass Inventory and Production Management, promoting minimal waste and resource efficiency. Lastly, SSCM will serve as a cornerstone of the Circular Economy, fostering material reuse and recycling, thereby reducing waste and conserving resources. SSCM is poised to be a central driving force in shaping environmentally and socially responsible supply chains, aligning with corporate objectives and global sustainability goals.
