Instructions for Authors – Race and Social Problems
Race and Social Problems (RASP) is a multidisciplinary journal dedicated to publishing research scholarship that fosters understanding of how race and ethnicity impact individual and social behavior and social systems. The journal typically publishes one special topic issue a year and three regular issues composed of articles selected based on blinded external review by editorial board members and published scholars in the relevant subject area.
The scope of our mission is limited to informing race and ethnicity impacts in the North American continent. In some cases, research on samples outside of the continent may be reviewed and published, if the submission has clear and direct relevance to race relations in North America.
Only quantitative empirical articles are reviewed for regular issues. Included among quantitative studies are formal meta-analyses. Special topic issues invite articles from a broader type of scholarship, including qualitative research, descriptive research, historical reviews and policy analyses. Please check the journal for a Call for Papers announcing a forthcoming special topic issue, the guest editor for the issue, and themes to be addressed in the issue. Special topic issues consider both papers solicited by the guest editor and those arising from the Call for Papers. Selection for inclusion is made by the guest editor and the editor-in-chief.
Submitting authors should consult the latest edition of the American Psychological Association Publication Manual for guidance in article preparation. RASP has no firm word or page limit. Submissions will generally be 18-25 pages of text plus pages for references, tables and figures. The font used should not be small, but standard, such as Times New Roman 12.
