Mathematical Programming Computation - Impact Factor announcement

From the editor-in-chief of Mathematical Programming Computation:

The editorial board is pleased to announce that, retroactive through 2019, Mathematical Programming Computation will be assigned a Web of Science journal impact factor in the same manner as Mathematical Programming Series A/B and other respected optimization journals.  On December 1, 2021, the journal received the following communication from Web of Science:

*********

We have completed a re-evaluation of Mathematical Programming Computation using the Web of Science selection criteria. Our editors found Mathematical Programming Computation continues to meet our quality criteria and now also meets impact criteria. As such, Mathematical Programming Computation will be indexed in the following products:

Science Citation Index ExpandedCurrent Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth SciencesCurrent Contents/Engineering, Computing & Technology

in the subject categories of “Mathematics, Applied”, “Computer Science, Software Engineering” and “Operations Research & Management Science”.

Coverage will begin with Vol. 11(1) 2019.

Journals that are accepted in to SCIE and/or SSCI before January 1st and that remain covered in one of these collections when JCR production is started in March, are eligible to appear in the June release of the JCR data and receive a Journal Impact Factor™ (JIF).

*********

Since its inception in 2008, Web of Science had formerly classified Mathematical Programming Computation (MPC) as an “emerging” journal without an impact factor.   This meant that certain authors could not receive full recognition from their institutions for publications accepted to the journal.  According to the above message, this unfortunate situation has come to an end: Web of Science will now consider any publication in MPC appearing in 2019 or later to be in a journal with an impact factor.  Such publications should thus receive full recognition from authors’ institutions.  The first release of impact factor information should occur in June 2022.
