Aims and scope

The Journal of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (JISRS) is a peer-reviewed international journal dedicated to advancing, disseminating, and applying knowledge in remote sensing, spatial science and photogrammetry. JISRS is committed to promoting interdisciplinary research with a primary focus on mapping and assessing the Earth's natural resources, environment protection and sustainability. The journal welcomes applied or data-driven innovative remote sensing studies spanning a wide array of domains including biosphere, cryosphere, terrestrial, oceanic, atmospheric and planetary environments as well as social sciences, regulations, cost-benefit analysis and policy interventions. Submissions focusing on remote sensing sensors, data processing, GIS and analytic algorithms, large and open bio-geophysical and field-based databases, close-range sensing techniques such as handheld devices, Internet of Things (IoT) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are   encouraged. Research articles demonstrating the application of machine learning and deep learning algorithms for the analysis of remote sensing data are also promoted, as they contribute significantly to enhancing our comprehension of remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies. Manuscripts addressing novel research developments, emerging technologies, and applications in the form of a research review and articles, short communications, comments on publications, etc. that align with the core objectives of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) are considered for publication in JISRS.
