Call for Papers – 2022 Special Issue

The KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering invites papers for 2022 Special Issue. Special Issues are designed to provide a platform and opportunity to summarize the state-of-the-art on a specific theme, share new perspectives, and initiate discussion on the latest theoretical research.

Future Urban Mobility with MaaS

Editors: Paul Schonfeld, Young-Jae Lee, and Joyoung Lee

Due to technology advancements and diversity of personal mobility needs, Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is currently considered a key element in future urban mobility. MaaS, which includes multiple modes in a single unified personal trip, is a newly developed concept but has quickly become a new trend in urban mobility. In order to advance new technologies and analysis methods for MaaS and to enhance its applicability and benefits, the guest editor team seeks papers on MaaS for a Special Issue of the KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering. We envision that the papers will inform transportation researchers and other professionals about recent ideas, technical advances, applicable analysis methods, and relevant empirical results in this field.

The content of this Special Issue will focus on smart technology and engineering for future mobility with MaaS. Topics for the Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Advanced technologies including artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Data driven approaches
  • Comparisons of concepts and alternatives
  • Demand and travel behavior analysis
  • Simulation and optimization
  • Effectiveness measures and improvements
  • Policies and regulations
  • Safety and security
  • Economic analysis
  • Privacy issues and cyber security issues
  • Transportation system integration
  • Practical applications and cases
