Child Indicators Research

The official Journal of the International Society for Child Indicators

Publishing model:

Aims and scope

Child Indicators Research is an international, peer-reviewed bi-monthly that focuses on the presentation of empirical research and theoretical discussion of children’s well-being, with a particular focus on measurement and indicators of children's well-being, and their usage within multiple domains and in diverse cultures. The Journal provides a forum for interdisciplinary research on children’s well-being and welcomes both quantitative and qualitative research that advances knowledge on children’s well-being, how well-being can be conceptualised and measured and how knowledge about children’s well-being and child indicators can be used to improve the development and well-being of children. The Journal presents measures and data resources, analysis of the data, exploration of theoretical issues, and information about the status of children, as well as the implementation of this information in policy and practice.

The journal provides a unique, applied perspective, by presenting a variety of analytical models, different perspectives, and a range of social policy regimes. It breaks through the ‘isolation’ of academicians, researchers and practitioners and serves as a ‘natural habitat’ for anyone interested in child indicators, providing a forum for researchers, practitioners and policy makers to exchange ideas on how to promote the well-being of children through the application of research and theory. Unique and exclusive, the Journal is a source of high quality research, policy impact and rigorous scientific papers.

Readership: academicians, researchers, government officials, data collectors, providers of funding, practitioners, and journalists who have an interest in children’s well-being issues.
