  • Call for Papers: Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Psychology Research…and Beyond

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance psychology research is not new, most likely gaining momentum with the connectionist revolution in cognitive psychology in the 1980s. Recent advances in machine learning have placed smart AI at the forefront of emerging methodologies across numerous psychology sub-fields and at the center of debates about the roles that AI can and should play.

This special issue is designed to highlight cutting edge methodologies in psychology that employ AI as a tool to improve the quality of authors’ work.* Submissions will be accepted from across psychology sub-disciplines with special attention to those who have integrated best practices in research methods with their use of AI. Authors are encouraged to share their code or make it available upon request so that their research is replicable.

Guest Editors: Lauren S. Seifert, Ph.D. (Psychology) & Cory Kromer-Edwards, Ph.D. (Computer Science)

    Submission Deadline: June 1st, 2024

  • SPECIAL ISSUE PROCEDURE

Current Psychology welcomes special issues. The Editor-in-Chief may appoint Guest Editors for a certain topic, or potential Guest Editors may propose special issue topics to the Editor-in-Chief.

All special issue proposals must include the name and details of the guest editors, a detailed explanation of the topic, and proposed schedule. Each SI proposal will be peer reviewed before proceeding. Editor-in-Chief has discretion to accept or reject a special issue proposal.

The Guest Editor(s) will oversee the peer review process for each submission to the special issue. The peer review process for special issue submissions and non-special issue submissions are identical. A minimum of two expert peer reviewers will assess each submission, and reviews will be double blind.

    Submission Deadline: July. 1, 2023

  • Call for Reviewers

Current Psychology is experiencing record levels of submissions. As a result, we are seeking additional qualified reviewers. We invite you to join our family of reviewers and look forward to hearing from you.

  • Call for Papers: Retractions and their Discontents

Retractions of scientific articles have been increasing steadily over the past 20 years. Articles are retracted, either by the journal that published them or by the authors themselves, because of major scientific flaws (sometimes, but not always, due to misconduct), but also on occasion when they have come under intense scrutiny because their conclusions are socially or politically controversial. With this special issue of Current Psychology, we hope to stimulate discussion of all aspects of the "unpublication" of scientific articles.

Guest Editors: Christopher J. Ferguson, Nicholas Brown
    Submission Deadline: May 1, 2022
