Aims and scope

JCCS provides a forum for fundamental and translational research focusing either on intercellular or intracellular signaling pathways. Also of interest are manuscripts reporting studies aimed at understanding how cells interact with their surrounding environments, and how altered cellular behavior contributes to pathological states.
JCCS welcomes studies dealing with all aspects of remote cell signaling and communication, such as biological and biochemical studies of microvesicles and their signaling mechanisms in the context of tissue homeostasis and regeneration, as well as the identification of receptors and their ligands.

Research manuscripts can be published under the following sections to be selected upon manuscript submission:
MATRICELLULAR PROTEINS, SIGNALING MECHANISMS, FIBROSIS
BREAST CANCER, PANCREATIC CANCER, CANCER IMMUNOLOGY, CCN SIGNALING
MOLECULAR BIOLOGY OF CANCER: CERVICAL, BREAST AND HEAD & NECK CANCER
NERVOUS SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT; SYNAPTIC TRANSMISSION
MATRIX PATHOPHYSIOLOGY & TRANSCRIPTIONAL REGULATION

TRANSLATIONAL MOLECULAR PATHOLOGY

JCCS also welcomes the publication of narrative or systematic review articles (between 4000 and 5000 words excluding references) that summarize recent advances and discoveries, identify gaps and debates, and outline future directions in all aspects of cell signaling and communication. JCCS is particularly interested in focused and authoritative mini-reviews (no more than 3000 words excluding references) that will allow the reader to gain a rapid understanding of the material presented on a focused topic.
Inclusion of figures and schematic that help to summarize the major concepts presented is strongly encouraged.
JCCS welcomes Special Issues placed under the scientific responsibility of a guest Editor appointed by the ICCNS. Once the topic of the special issue is validated, the authors invited by the Guest Editor will be requested to submit their manuscript under a section which will be specially open for this Special issue. The timing of publication will be agreed with the Springer Nature production department and the ICCNS/JCCS Administrative Manager and Coordinator.

Short commentaries on recent publications and news that are of interest to the scientific community can be published in the form of JCCS Bits & Bytes which ensure a rapid publication after accelerated reviewing by at least one member of our Editorial Board.Short commentaries on protocols or technical news can be published in the form of Nuts & Bolts. All short commentaries also appear simultaneously on the website of the International CCN Society (http://ccnsociety.com) as soon as they are accepted.
Letters to the Editor are welcome providing that they report original research results of wide interest to the scientific community. Letters typically do not exceed 2-4 pages and report early but ground breaking studies that deserve accelerated processing. The letters undergo strict peer review. The number of figures and or tables is limited to 3. The text is not to exceed 2000 words, and the hnumber of references should be kept to a maximum of 80. The preliminary review process is conducted under the responsibility of an Associate Editor. Manuscripts that do not comply with the 'Letter' requirements can be transferred to regular section Editors.
