Summary and scope
It has become a challenging issue for industrial experts in advanced manufacturing process to model and analyze materials by applying optimization techniques and software tools.

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide an insight about the problems faced by manufacturing industries for designing/modelling new components and their analysis and preventive action to avoid new failures.

This Special Issue welcomes original research articles related to numerical analysis, design of experiments, additive/subtractive rapid prototype, machining and computational design and modeling. In addition, processing and development of smart/functional/hybrid composite materials and advanced manufacturing technology are invited here.

  • To develop and explore design, modelling and manufacturing aspects.
  • To emphasize traditional modelling approaches and advanced modelling approaches.
  • To cover product manufacturing, machining mechanism using computational and numerical simulation.
  • To fabricate the engineering products precisely by applying design optimization.

The following topics are of special interest:

  • Computational Methods/approach for the development of Materials
  • Laser Processing of Materials/composites
  • Design for Additive/Subtractive Manufacturing
  • Design optimization methods
  • Finite element simulation for modelling and analysis of product design, manufacturing and machining processes
  • Design process and product development for innovation models
  • Coatings and its applications
  • Composite and polymer manufacturing
  • Functional/Smart/Semi-conductor materials
  • Materials for Thermal Application

Submission guidelines
All papers must be prepared in accordance with the Instructions for Authors (this opens in a new tab). Authors should submit through the online submission site (this opens in a new tab) and select article type “SI - Computational and Numerical Analysis of Advanced Materials and Manufacturing".

Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the Special Issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least two independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Final decisions on all papers are made by the Editor-in-Chief.
