International Journal on Interactive Design and Manufacturing (IJIDeM) - Special Issue on Computational Methods in Advanced Joining Techniques

Guest-Editors:
Dr. Joy Prakash Misra, Indian Institute of Technology, India
Dr. Vikas Upadhyay, National Institute of Technology Patna, India

Submission Status: Closed

Summary and scope
Complex configurations, unique joint properties, synergistic mixtures of materials, cost reduction, and enhanced productivity are achieved through the evolution of advanced joining techniques. However, they are still in their infancy, and it is problematic to understand the techniques solely through experimentation. This Special Issue can be resolved by employing computational techniques.

The Special Issue will incorporate:

  • Recent practices and advances in joining techniques
  • Application of AI and ML in joining techniques
  • Computational methods in quality enhancement
  • Cyber-physical system in joining techniques

The following topics are of special interest:

  • Advanced joining techniques: LBW, USW, FSW, RSW, FSSW, adhesive bonding, clinching, etc.
  • Joining techniques for dissimilar materials
  • Microstructural analysis and mechanical behavior of developed joints
  • Application of computational tools in advanced joining techniques
  • Process simulation, modeling and optimization
  • Smart joining techniques and automated joint monitoring
  • Green joining practices

Submission guidelines
All papers must be prepared in accordance with the Instructions for Authors (this opens in a new tab). Authors should submit through the online submission site (this opens in a new tab) and select article type “SI - Computational Methods in Advanced Joining Techniques".

Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the Special Issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least two independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Final decisions on all papers are made by the Editor-in-Chief.
